Overview 2015
of the Program
In July 2015, Queens University of Charlotte will once again host the NC State University’s College of Engineering Youth Summer Program at its main campus in Myers Park. The program, known locally as Engineering Camp Charlotte, will run four week-long day camps and will accept children in rising grades 3 through 8 (ages 8 – 14).
Dates 2015
The program will run four separate week-long programs.
Session I: July 6 – 10 (Rising grades 6 – 8 only)
Session II: July 13 – 17 (Rising grades 3 – 5 only)
Session III: July 20 – 24 (Rising grades 3 – 5 only)
Session IV: July 27 – 31 (Rising grades 6 – 8 only)
Cost 2015
The cost of the program is $365 per week per camper. The fee includes an NCSU College of Engineering Camp Activity Journal, official camp t-shirt, daily snacks, and lunch.
Families who are accepted to the program will be notified the week of March 2. A $65 nonrefundable deposit is due by March 16 to secure your child’s spot. The remaining enrollment fee ($300) is due by May 4, 2015.
Hours 2015
Engineering Camp Charlotte will run Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The camp will conclude each Friday afternoon with a Family Exhibition from 1:30pm – 3:30pm open to family members. Parking will be provided.
Application Process 2015
The application process will open January 5, 2015 and closes
on
Monday,
February 9, 2015. Applicants will be notified the week of March 2, 2015.
The program will accept 76 applicants per week. Students who applied but did not attend in 2014 will receive 1st preference.
Curriculum Changes EVERY Summer
NC State University develops the curriculum. The program guides students through the engineering design process as they tackle exciting engineering design challenges throughout each week-long program. Students will also learn about the National Academy of Engineering’s 14 Grand Challenges and the careers available to them in the various fields of engineering.
Each summer, NC State changes the curriculum, so no camp experience is ever the same!

Faculty Overview
Each team is led by a Team Leader, an Assistant Team Leader and a High School Assistant Volunteer. All staff will participate in a selective hiring process and will be trained by NC State’s College of Engineering. Staff will undergo full background checks.
